More from the CrossFit Games Northwest Region.
Friends of CFR Jeff and Charity Vale (Crossfit Snohomish) and Jay Roughton (CrossFit All In) left it all on the playing field this weekend. Charity ended up winning the competition and goes to California as the #1 seed out of the Northwest Region. Husband Jeff pulled a PR 509 deadlift and went hard enough on the Final WOD to chip a tooth on the SDHPs. Jeff finished 5th on the men’s side. He’s still a handsome guy though. Read Jeff’s description of J-Ro’s performance. Pulling SDHPs that are almost body weight is no small task. Also notice the beautiful full extension Jay gets on his liftJay’s attitude and passions for CrossFit are infectious.
Well done all of you.

We spent Saturday at the CrossFit Games Northwest Regional Qualifier competition held at Magnusson Park. 140 some CrossFitters gathered to earn one of 8 spots (4 men/4 women) in the CrossFit Games to be held in Aromas, CA July 10-12. I’m already thinking about coverage for classes those days because I plan to be at the games.
Jenny was at the Qualifier representing CrossFit Redmond and boy did she represent. A 2nd place finish in the strength competition and a 3rd place finish in the Final WOD equaled 2nd place overall for and earned her a coveted spot in the national games. It all sounds so easy when I say it that way.
Strength Competition
Two events, deadlift and the clean and press for max weight, one rep. The deadlift is one of Jenny’s best lifts and she proved that again lifting a meet best of 319 pound. The next best scores of those who finished the competition were 308 and 253. Jen had the 2nd best press of 90 pounds.
Final WOD
5 Rounds for time (20 minute limit)
2 Muscle-ups
30 Wall Ball Shots (12 pound ball)
6 SDHP (88 pound barbell)
Jenny gave an incredible effort and was one of only 7 women to complete the WOD in the required time. Her score of 16:02 was good for 3rd best overall. The guts it took to keep going in this WOD! A brutal mix of heart busting cardio and heavy weights. Jen killed it and looked great doing it. Having the entire arena cheering for one of our own was an amazing sight.
Some athletic events stand out in my mind and are unforgettable. This event topped them all.
Thanks for being an awesome representative for CrossFit Redmond in your performance and also in the grace, humility and encouragement that accompanied your awesome performance.
