This is Why You’re Fat
Rest Day
Ever wonder why? This short funny video makes an important point. It’s not just how much you eat that makes you fat, it’s also what you eat. Have you fallen for the lie that calories are calories?

Complete for time
Run 800m
30 Squat Cleans, 95/65
50 Push-up
I gotta brag. Again.
We did 7×1 deadlifts on Thursday and we had fantastic results. EVERY person who came in had a new personal best and we added some folks to the illustrious 200 pound club.
Cara got 200, Stephanie go 200, and Amanda pushed her personal best to 220! Wow! We had several 25-30 pound jumps as well. There is a lot more potential on everyone’s lifts. Enjoy the soreness of a job well done. I don’t think I even lied to anyone about their weight. Well maybe I did. Once or something.
Here’s a big dude with a big deadlift. I promise you will never look like him if you continue to deadlift.

7 Rounds for time
10 Sumo Deadlift Highpulls, 95/65
10 Ring Dips
I got beat up by a girl.
Again.
There is just something about Diane. She beats me up but leaves me thinking I can get some love next time we meet only to get beat up again the next time we meet.
I’m feeling my back a little but it feels pretty good actually. I do Diane as prescribed, doing forehead to floor handstand push-ups. The last time I did HSPUs I was going knows to ground and ended up with a bloody nose for half my workout. I decided not to do that again. Just the same, the HSPUs made me grind to a halt. The deadlifts were great. I felt my back locked in, felt the burning butt and hams that told me I was working hard. Then I went upside down. The first set was pretty good but I just don’t have stamina for the HSPU yet. I finished way slower than I wanted too and not nearly as fast as other people I know, but it was a good WOD and every rep was done to standard. I suspect it’s going to hurt more the next day.
But I look forward to seeing Diane again because if I can just get a little stronger and gain a little more stamina Diane will be awesome.
Right?
This video is excellent. You know I don’t buy the conventional wisdom about fats. Neither does she…

Refined foods. We talk about eating natural food alot, what do we mean?
There is one universal health axiom promoted by people on all sides of the diet debate from low-fat to low-carb that we all seem to agree on: refined foods are unhealthy! That’s right, those people who are trying to lose weight and improve their health need to take a serious look at their intake of these overly processed and highly refined foods that dominate supermarket shelves. You’ll be hard pressed within diet and health circles to find anyone who will disagree with this.

More from the CrossFit Games Northwest Region.
Friends of CFR Jeff and Charity Vale (Crossfit Snohomish) and Jay Roughton (CrossFit All In) left it all on the playing field this weekend. Charity ended up winning the competition and goes to California as the #1 seed out of the Northwest Region. Husband Jeff pulled a PR 509 deadlift and went hard enough on the Final WOD to chip a tooth on the SDHPs. Jeff finished 5th on the men’s side. He’s still a handsome guy though. Read Jeff’s description of J-Ro’s performance. Pulling SDHPs that are almost body weight is no small task. Also notice the beautiful full extension Jay gets on his liftJay’s attitude and passions for CrossFit are infectious.
Well done all of you.
